1. Now in the sun's new dawning ray, Lowly of heart, our God we pray That he from harm may keep us free In all the deeds this day shall see. 2. May fear of him our tongues restrain, Lest strife unguarded speech should stain: His favouring care our guardian be, Lest our eyes feed on vanity. 3. May every heart be pure from sin And folly find no place therein: Scant need of food, excess denied, Wear down in us the body's pride. 4. That when the light of day is gone, And night in course shall follow on. We, free from cares the world affords, May chant the praise that is our Lord's. 5. Psalmus 21 (2,12)

Depart not from me, * O Lord, for tribulation is very near; for there is none to help me.

O God my God, look upon me: why hast thou forsaken me? * Far from my salvation are the words of my sins.

  1. Deus meus, clamábo per diem, et non exáudies: * et nocte, et non ad insipiéntiam mihi.

    2. O my God, I shall cry by day, and thou wilt not hear: * and by night, and it shall not be reputed as folly in me.

  2. Tu autem in sancto hábitas: * laus Israël.

    3. But thou dwellest in the holy place, * the praise of Israel.

  3. In te speravérunt patres nostri: * speravérunt, et liberásti eos.

    4. In thee have our fathers hoped: * they have hoped, and thou hast delivered them.

Many calves have surrounded me: * fat bulls have besieged me.

  1. Aperuérunt super me os suum: * sicut leo rápiens et rúgiens.

    2. They have opened their mouths against me, * as a lion ravening and roaring.

  2. Sicut aqua effúsus sum: * et dispérsa sunt ómnia ossa mea.

    3. I am poured out like water; * and all my bones are scattered.

  3. Factum est cor meum tamquam cera liquéscens: * in médio ventris mei.

    4. My heart is become like wax melting * in the midst of my bowels.

  7. Ipsi vero consideravérunt et inspexérunt me: * divisérunt sibi vestiménta mea, et super vestem meam misérunt sortem.

    8. And they have looked and stared upon me. * They parted my garments amongst them; and upon my vesture they cast lots.

  8. Tu autem, Dómine, ne elongáveris auxílium tuum a me: * ad defensiónem meam cónspice.

    9. But thou, O Lord, remove not thy help to a distance from me; * look towards my defence.

  9. Erue a frámea, Deus, ánimam meam: * et de manu canis únicam meam.

    10. Deliver, O God, my soul from the sword: * my only one from the hand of the dog.

  10. Salva me ex ore leónis: * et a córnibus unicórnium humilitátem meam.

    11. Save me from the lion’s mouth; * and my lowness from the horns of the unicorns.

Ye that fear the Lord, praise him: * all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him.

  1. Tímeat eum omne semen Israël: * quóniam non sprevit, neque despéxit deprecatiónem páuperis:

    2. Let all the seed of Israel fear him: * because he hath not slighted nor despised the supplication of the poor man.

  2. Nec avértit fáciem suam a me: * et cum clamárem ad eum, exaudívit me.

    3. Neither hath he turned away his face from me: * and when I cried to him he heard me.

  3. Apud te laus mea in ecclésia magna: * vota mea reddam in conspéctu timéntium eum.

  8. Manducavérunt et adoravérunt omnes pingues terræ: * in conspéctu ejus cadent omnes qui descéndunt in terram.

    9. All the fat ones of the earth have eaten and have adored: * all they that go down to the earth shall fall before him.

  9. Et ánima mea illi vivet: * et semen meum sérviet ipsi.

    10. And to him my soul shall live: * and my seed shall serve him.

  10. Annuntiábitur Dómino generátio ventúra: * et annuntiábunt cæli justítiam ejus pópulo qui nascétur, quem fecit Dóminus.

    11. There shall be declared to the Lord a generation to come: * and the heavens shall shew forth his justice to a people that shall be born, which the Lord hath made.

Orémus.

Dómine Deus omnípotens, qui ad princípium huius diéi nos perveníre fecísti: † tua nos hódie salva virtúte; * ut in hac die ad nullum declinémus peccátum, sed semper ad tuam iustítiam faciéndam nostra procédant elóquia, dirigántur cogitatiónes et ópera.
Per Dóminum nostrum Iesum Christum, Fílium tuum: † qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitáte Spíritus Sancti, Deus, * per ómnia sǽcula sæculórum.

O Lord, our heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God, who has safely brought us to the beginning of this day: defend us by thy mighty power; and grant that this day we fall into no sin, but that all our doings may be ordered by thy governance, to do always what is righteous in thy sight.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.

Heb 1:11-12

Ipsi períbunt, tu autem permanébis; et omnes sicut vestiméntum veteráscent: et velut amíctum mutábis eos, et mutabúntur: tu autem idem ipse es, et anni tui non defícient.

They shall perish, but thou shalt continue: and they shall all grow old as a garment. And as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: but thou art the selfsame, and thy years shall not fail.
