Blessed are they * that dwell in thy house, O Lord.

How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts! * my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord.

  1. Cor meum, et caro mea: * exsultavérunt in Deum vivum.

    2. My heart and my flesh * have rejoiced in the living God.

  2. Etenim passer invénit sibi domum: * et turtur nidum sibi, ubi ponat pullos suos.

    3. For the sparrow hath found herself a house, * and the turtledove a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones:

  3. Altária tua, Dómine virtútum: * Rex meus, et Deus meus.

    4. Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, * my king and my God.

  4. Beáti, qui hábitant in domo tua, Dómine: * in sǽcula sæculórum laudábunt te.

    5. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: * they shall praise thee for ever and ever.

  5. Beátus vir, cujus est auxílium abs te: † ascensiónes in corde suo dispósuit, in valle lacrimárum * in loco, quem pósuit.

    6. Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: * in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps, in the vale of tears, in the place which he hath set.

  6. Etenim benedictiónem dabit legislátor † ibunt de virtúte in virtútem: * vidébitur Deus deórum in Sion.

    7. For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: * the God of gods shall be seen in Sion.

    8. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

  8. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: * give ear, O God of Jacob.

  1. Protéctor noster, áspice, Deus: * et réspice in fáciem Christi tui.

    2. Behold, O God our protector: * and look on the face of thy Christ.

  2. Quia mélior est dies una in átriis tuis: * super míllia.

    3. For better is one day in thy courts * above thousands.

  3. Elégi abjéctus esse in domo Dei mei: * magis quam habitáre in tabernáculis peccatórum.

    4. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, * rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners.

  4. Quia misericórdiam et veritátem díligit Deus: * grátiam et glóriam dabit Dóminus.

    5. For God loveth mercy and truth: * the Lord will give grace and glory.

  5. Non privábit bonis eos qui ámbulant in innocéntia: * Dómine virtútum, beátus homo qui sperat in te.

    6. He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence: * O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

The foundations thereof are in the holy mountains: * The Lord loveth the gates of Sion above all the tabernacles of Jacob.

  1. Gloriósa dicta sunt de te, * cívitas Dei.

    2. Glorious things are said of thee, * O city of God.

  2. Memor ero Rahab, et Babylónis * sciéntium me.

    3. I will be mindful of Rahab and of Babylon * knowing me.

  3. Ecce alienígenæ, et Tyrus, et pópulus Æthíopum, * hi fuérunt illic.

    4. Behold the foreigners, and Tyre, and the people of the Ethiopians, * these were there.

  4. Numquid Sion dicet: † Homo, et homo natus est in ea: * et ipse fundávit eam Altíssimus?

    5. Shall not Sion say: This man and that man is born in her? * and the Highest himself hath founded her.

  5. Dóminus narrábit in scriptúris populórum, et príncipum: * horum, qui fuérunt in ea.

    6. The Lord shall tell in his writings of peoples and of princes, * of them that have been in her.

    7. The dwelling in thee * is as it were of all rejoicing.

Rom 13:8

Némini quidquam debeátis, nisi ut ínvicem diligátis: † qui enim díligit próximum, * legem implévit.

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another. For he that loveth his neighbour hath fulfilled the law.

Further with thy gracious favor, we beseech thee, O Lord, the fasts which we have begun, that we may be able to practice the bodily fasts which we keep, with sincere minds.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.

Conclusio
