Psalmus 58 (2,11)

With the armour of justice * and in the power of God, let us prove ourselves in much patience.

Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; * and defend me from them that rise up against me.

  1. Eripe me de operántibus iniquitátem: * et de viris sánguinum salva me.

    2. Deliver me from them that work iniquity, * and save me from bloody men.

  2. Quia ecce cepérunt ánimam meam: * irruérunt in me fortes.

    3. For behold they have caught my soul: * the mighty have rushed in upon me:

  3. Neque iníquitas mea, neque peccátum meum, Dómine: * sine iniquitáte cucúrri, et diréxi.

    4. Neither is it my iniquity, nor my sin, O Lord: * without iniquity have I run, and directed my steps.

  4. Exsúrge in occúrsum meum, et vide: * et tu, Dómine, Deus virtútum, Deus Israël.

    5. Rise up thou to meet me, and behold: * even thou, O Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel.

  5. Inténde ad visitándas omnes Gentes: * non misereáris ómnibus, qui operántur iniquitátem.

    6. Attend to visit all the nations: * have no mercy on all them that work iniquity.

  6. Converténtur ad vésperam: et famem patiéntur ut canes: * et circuíbunt civitátem.

    7. They shall return at evening, and shall suffer hunger like dogs: * and shall go round about the city.

  7. Ecce loquéntur in ore suo, † et gládius in lábiis eórum: * quóniam quis audívit?

    8. Behold they shall speak with their mouth, and a sword is in their lips: * for who, say they, hath heard us?

  8. Et tu, Dómine, deridébis eos: * ad níhilum dedúces omnes Gentes.

    9. But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them: * thou shalt bring all the nations to nothing.

  9. Fortitúdinem meam ad te custódiam, † quia, Deus, suscéptor meus es: * Deus meus, misericórdia ejus prævéniet me.

    10. I will keep my strength to thee: for thou art my protector: * my God, his mercy shall prevent me.

    11. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

Psalmus 58 (12,18)

God shall let me see over my enemies: slay them not, * lest at any time my people forget.

  1. Dispérge illos in virtúte tua: * et depóne eos, protéctor meus, Dómine:

    2. And scatter them by thy power; * and bring them down, O Lord, my protector:

  2. Delíctum oris eórum, sermónem labiórum ipsórum: * et comprehendántur in supérbia sua.

    3. For the sin of their mouth, and the word of their lips: * and let them be taken in their pride.

  3. Et de exsecratióne et mendácio annuntiabúntur in consummatióne: * in ira consummatiónis, et non erunt.

    4. And for their cursing and lying they shall be talked of, when they are consumed: * when they are consumed by thy wrath, and they shall be no more.

  4. Et scient quia Deus dominábitur Jacob: * et fínium terræ.

    5. And they shall know that God will rule Jacob, * and all the ends of the earth.

  6. Ipsi dispergéntur ad manducándum: * si vero non fúerint saturáti, et murmurábunt.

    7. They shall be scattered abroad to eat, * and shall murmur if they be not filled.

  7. Ego autem cantábo fortitúdinem tuam: * et exsultábo mane misericórdiam tuam.

    8. But I will sing thy strength: * and will extol thy mercy in the morning.

  8. Quia factus es suscéptor meus, * et refúgium meum, in die tribulatiónis meæ.

    9. For thou art become my support, * and my refuge, in the day of my trouble.

  9. Adjútor meus, tibi psallam, † quia, Deus, suscéptor meus es: * Deus meus, misericórdia mea.

    10. Unto thee, O my helper, will I sing, for thou art God my defence: * my God my mercy.

God, thou hast cast us off, and hast destroyed us; * thou hast been angry, and hast had mercy on us.

  1. Commovísti terram, et conturbásti eam: * sana contritiónes ejus, quia commóta est.

    2. Thou hast moved the earth, and hast troubled it: * heal thou the breaches thereof, for it has been moved.

  2. Ostendísti pópulo tuo dura: * potásti nos vino compunctiónis.

    3. Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; * thou hast made us drink the wine of sorrow.

  3. Dedísti metuéntibus te significatiónem: * ut fúgiant a fácie arcus:

    4. Thou hast given a warning to them that fear thee: * that they may flee from before the bow:

  4. Ut liberéntur dilécti tui: * salvum fac déxtera tua, et exáudi me.

    5. That thy beloved may be delivered. * Save me with thy right hand, and hear me.

  5. Deus locútus est in sancto suo: † Lætábor, et partíbor Síchimam: * et convállem tabernaculórum metíbor.

    6. God hath spoken in his holy place: * I will rejoice, and I will divide Sichem; and will mete out the vale of tabernacles.

  6. Meus est Gálaad, et meus est Manásses: * et Ephraim fortitúdo cápitis mei.

    7. Galaad is mine, and Manasses is mine: * and Ephraim is the strength of my head.

  7. Juda rex meus: * Moab olla spei meæ.

    8. Juda is my king: * Moab is the pot of my hope.

  8. In Idumǽam exténdam calceaméntum meum: * mihi alienígenæ súbditi sunt.

    9. Into Edom will I stretch out my shoe: * to me the foreigners are made subject.

  9. Quis dedúcet me in civitátem munítam? * quis dedúcet me usque in Idumǽam?

    10. Who will bring me into the strong city? * who will lead me into Edom?

  10. Nonne tu, Deus, qui repulísti nos? * et non egrediéris, Deus in virtútibus nostris?

    11. Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? * and wilt not thou, O God, go out with our armies?

  11. Da nobis auxílium de tribulatióne: * quia vana salus hóminis.

    12. Give us help from trouble: * for vain is the salvation of man.

  12. In Deo faciémus virtútem: * et ipse ad níhilum dedúcet tribulántes nos.

    13. Through God we shall do mightily: * and he shall bring to nothing them that afflict us.

Isa 58:7

Frange esuriénti panem tuum, et egénos vagósque induc in domum tuam: cum víderis nudum, óperi eum, et carnem tuam ne despéxeris.

Deal thy bread to the hungry, and bring the needy and the harbourless into thy house: when thou shalt see one naked, cover him, and despise not thy own flesh.

Pópulum tuum, quǽsumus; Dómine, * propítius réspice: † et quos ab escis carnálibus prǽcipis abstinére, a nóxiis quoque vítiis cessáre concéde.
Per Dóminum nostrum Iesum Christum, Fílium tuum: † qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitáte Spíritus Sancti, Deus, * per ómnia sǽcula sæculórum.

Look down in mercy upon thy people, O Lord, we beseech thee, and grant unto them, whom Thou commandest to abstain from fleshly meats, power to abstain also from the corruption of sin.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
