Ad Nonam

Incipit

Hymnus

Psalmus 58 (2,11)

The Lord helpeth them * to right that suffer wrong, but as for the way of the ungodly, he turneth it upside down.

Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; * and defend me from them that rise up against me.

  1. Eripe me de operántibus iniquitem: * et de viris sánguinum salva me.
  2. Deliver me from them that work iniquity, * and save me from bloody men.

  3. Quia ecce cepérunt ánimam meam: * irruérunt in me fortes.
  4. For behold they have caught my soul: * the mighty have rushed in upon me:

  6. Neither is it my iniquity, nor my sin, O Lord: * without iniquity have I run, and directed my steps.

  7. Exsúrge in occúrsum meum, et vide: * et tu, Dómine, Deus virtútum, Deus Israël.
  8. Rise up thou to meet me, and behold: * even thou, O Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel.

  10. Attend to visit all the nations: * have no mercy on all them that work iniquity.

  12. They shall return at evening, and shall suffer hunger like dogs: * and shall go round about the city.

  13. Ecce loquéntur in ore suo, et gládius in lábiis eórum: * quóniam quis auvit?
  14. Behold they shall speak with their mouth, and a sword is in their lips: * for who, say they, hath heard us?

  16. But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them: * thou shalt bring all the nations to nothing.

  17. Fortitúdinem meam ad te custódiam, quia, Deus, suscéptor meus es: * Deus meus, misericórdia ejus præniet me.
  18. I will keep my strength to thee: for thou art my protector: * my God, his mercy shall prevent me.

  19. Glória Patri, et lio, * et Spitui Sancto.
  20. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

  21. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæcurum. Amen.
  22. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Psalmus 58 (12,18)

God shall let me see over my enemies: slay them not, * lest at any time my people forget.

  1. Dispérge illos in virtúte tua: * et depóne eos, protéctor meus, mine:
  2. And scatter them by thy power; * and bring them down, O Lord, my protector:

  3. Delíctum oris eórum, sermónem labiórum iprum: * et comprehendántur in supérbia sua.
  4. For the sin of their mouth, and the word of their lips: * and let them be taken in their pride.

  6. And for their cursing and lying they shall be talked of, when they are consumed: * when they are consumed by thy wrath, and they shall be no more.

  7. Et scient quia Deus dominábitur Jacob: * et nium terræ.
  8. And they shall know that God will rule Jacob, * and all the ends of the earth.

  10. They shall return at evening and shall suffer hunger like dogs: * and shall go round about the city.

  12. They shall be scattered abroad to eat, * and shall murmur if they be not filled.

  14. But I will sing thy strength: * and will extol thy mercy in the morning.

  16. For thou art become my support, * and my refuge, in the day of my trouble.

  17. Adjútor meus, tibi psallam, quia, Deus, suscéptor meus es: * Deus meus, misericórdia mea.
  18. Unto thee, O my helper, will I sing, for thou art God my defence: * my God my mercy.

Amen.

Psalmus 59

God, thou hast cast us off, and hast destroyed us; * thou hast been angry, and hast had mercy on us.

  2. Thou hast moved the earth, and hast troubled it: * heal thou the breaches thereof, for it has been moved.

  3. Ostendísti pópulo tuo dura: * potásti nos vino compunctiónis.
  4. Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; * thou hast made us drink the wine of sorrow.

  5. Dedísti metuéntibus te significatiónem: * ut fúgiant a cie arcus:
  6. Thou hast given a warning to them that fear thee: * that they may flee from before the bow:

  7. Ut liberéntur dilécti tui: * salvum fac déxtera tua, et exáudi me.
  8. That thy beloved may be delivered. * Save me with thy right hand, and hear me.

  10. God hath spoken in his holy place: * I will rejoice, and I will divide Sichem; and will mete out the vale of tabernacles.

  12. Galaad is mine, and Manasses is mine: * and Ephraim is the strength of my head.

  13. Juda rex meus: * Moab olla spei meæ.
  14. Juda is my king: * Moab is the pot of my hope.

  15. In Idumǽam exténdam calceaméntum meum: * mihi alienígenæ súbditi sunt.
  16. Into Edom will I stretch out my shoe: * to me the foreigners are made subject.

  17. Quis dedúcet me in civitátem mutam? * quis dedúcet me usque in Iduam?
  18. Who will bring me into the strong city? * who will lead me into Edom?

  19. Nonne tu, Deus, qui repulísti nos? * et non egrediéris, Deus in virtibus nostris?
  20. Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? * and wilt not thou, O God, go out with our armies?

  22. Give us help from trouble: * for vain is the salvation of man.

  24. Through God we shall do mightily: * and he shall bring to nothing them that afflict us.

  25. Glória Patri, et lio, * et Spitui Sancto.
  26. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

  27. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæcurum. Amen.
  28. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The Lord helpeth them * to right that suffer wrong, but as for the way of the ungodly, he turneth it upside down.

Capitulum Responsorium Versus

Ier 18:20

Remember that I have stood in thy sight, to speak good for them, and turn away thy indignation from them.

Oratio

O Almighty God, we beseech Thee that we whose transgressions do unceasingly harm us, may find freedom in the Suffering of Thine Only-begotten Son.
Who with thee liveth and reigneth, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, world without end.
