Incipit

Psalmus 114

I have loved, because the Lord will hear * the voice of my prayer.

  1. Quia inclinávit aurem suam mihi: * et in diébus meis invobo.
  2. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me: * and in my days I will call upon him.

  3. Circumdedérunt me dores mortis: * et perícula inférni inverunt me.
  4. The sorrows of death have compassed me: * and the perils of hell have found me.

  5. Tribulatiónem et dorem inni: * et nomen Dómini invovi.
  6. I met with trouble and sorrow: * and I called upon the name of the Lord.

  7. O Dómine, líbera ánimam meam: miséricors Dóminus, et justus, * et Deus noster misetur.
  8. O Lord, deliver my soul. * The Lord is merciful and just, and our God sheweth mercy.

  9. Custódiens párvulos minus: * humiliátus sum, et libevit me.
  10. The Lord is the keeper of little ones: * I was humbled, and he delivered me.

  11. Convértere, ánima mea, in quiem tuam: * quia Dóminus benefécit tibi.
  12. Turn, O my soul, into thy rest: * for the Lord hath been bountiful to thee.

  13. Quia erípuit ánimam meam de morte: óculos meos a crimis, * pedes meos a lapsu.
  14. For he hath delivered my soul from death: * my eyes from tears, my feet from falling.

  15. Plabo mino * in regióne virum.
  16. I will please the Lord * in the land of the living.

  17. Glória Patri, et lio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
  18. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

  19. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
  20. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Psalmus 115

I have believed, therefore have I spoken; * but I have been humbled exceedingly.

  1. Ego dixi in excéssu meo: * Omnis homo mendax.
  2. I said in my excess: * Every man is a liar.

  3. Quid retríbuam mino, * pro ómnibus, quæ retríbuit mihi?
  4. What shall I render to the Lord, * for all the things that he hath rendered to me?

  5. Cálicem saluris acpiam: * et nomen Dómini invobo.
  6. I will take the chalice of salvation; * and I will call upon the name of the Lord.

  7. Vota mea Dómino reddam coram omni pulo ejus: * pretiósa in conspéctu Dómini mors sanctórum ejus:
  8. I will pay my vows to the Lord before all his people: * precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

  9. O Dómine, quia ego servus tuus: * ego servus tuus, et fílius ancíllæ tuæ.
  10. O Lord, for I am thy servant: * I am thy servant, and the son of thy handmaid.

  11. Dirupísti víncula mea: tibi sacrificábo hóstiam laudis, * et nomen Dómini invobo.
  12. Thou hast broken my bonds: * I will sacrifice to thee the sacrifice of praise, and I will call upon the name of the Lord.

  13. Vota mea Dómino reddam in conspéctu omnis puli ejus: * in átriis domus Dómini, in médio tui, Jesalem.
  14. I will pay my vows to the Lord in the sight of all his people: * in the courts of the house of the Lord, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem.

  15. Glória Patri, et lio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
  16. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

  17. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
  18. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Psalmus 119

In my trouble I cried to the Lord: * and he heard me.

  1. Dómine, líbera ánimam meam a lábiis iníquis, * et a lingua dosa.
  2. O Lord, deliver my soul from wicked lips, * and a deceitful tongue.

  3. Quid detur tibi, aut quid appotur tibi * ad linguam dosam?
  4. What shall be given to thee, or what shall be added to thee, * to a deceitful tongue?

  5. Sagíttæ poténtis atæ, * cum carbónibus desolariis.
  6. The sharp arrows of the mighty, * with coals that lay waste.

  7. Heu mihi! quia incolátus meus prolongátus est: habitávi cum habitántibus Cedar: * multum íncola fuit ánima mea.
  8. Woe is me, that my sojourning is prolonged! I have dwelt with the inhabitants of Cedar: * my soul hath been long a sojourner.

  9. Cum his, qui odérunt pacem, eram paficus: * cum loquébar illis, impugnábant me gratis.
  10. With them that hated peace I was peaceable: * when I spoke to them they fought against me without cause.

  11. Glória Patri, et lio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
  12. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

  13. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
  14. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Psalmus 120

I have lifted up my eyes to the mountains, * from whence help shall come to me.

  1. Auxílium meum a mino, * qui fecit cælum et terram.
  2. My help is from the Lord, * who made heaven and earth.

  3. Non det in commotiónem pedem tuum: * neque dormítet qui cusdit te.
  4. May he not suffer thy foot to be moved: * neither let him slumber that keepeth thee.

  5. Ecce, non dormitábit neque dórmiet, * qui custódit Israël.
  6. Behold he shall neither slumber nor sleep, * that keepeth Israel.

  7. Dóminus custódit te, Dóminus protéctio tua, * super manum déxteram tuam.
  8. The Lord is thy keeper, the Lord is thy protection * upon thy right hand.

  9. Per diem sol non uret te: * neque luna per noctem.
  10. The sun shall not burn thee by day: * nor the moon by night.

  11. Dóminus custódit te ab omni malo: * custódiat ánimam tuam minus.
  12. The Lord keepeth thee from all evil: * may the Lord keep thy soul.

  13. Dóminus custódiat intróitum tuum, et éxitum tuum: * ex hoc nunc, et usque in culum.
  14. May the Lord keep thy coming in and thy going out; * from henceforth now and for ever.

Amen.

Psalmus 121

I rejoiced at the things that were said to me: * We shall go into the house of the Lord.

  1. Stantes erant pedes nostri, * in átriis tuis, Jesalem.
  2. Our feet were standing * in thy courts, O Jerusalem.

  3. Jerúsalem, quæ ædifitur ut vitas: * cujus participátio ejus in idípsum.
  4. Jerusalem, which is built as a city, * which is compact together.

  5. Illuc enim ascendérunt tribus, tribus mini: * testimónium Israël ad confiténdum nómini mini.
  6. For thither did the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord: * the testimony of Israel, to praise the name of the Lord.

  7. Quia illic sedérunt sedes in jucio, * sedes super domum David.
  8. Because their seats have sat in judgment, * seats upon the house of David.

  9. Rogáte quæ ad pacem sunt Jesalem: * et abundántia diligéntibus te:
  10. Pray ye for the things that are for the peace of Jerusalem: * and abundance for them that love thee.

  11. Fiat pax in virte tua: * et abundántia in túrribus tuis.
  12. Let peace be in thy strength: * and abundance in thy towers.

  13. Propter fratres meos, et próximos meos, * loquébar pacem de te:
  14. For the sake of my brethren, and of my neighbours, * I spoke peace of thee.

  15. Propter domum Dómini, Dei nostri, * quæsívi bona tibi.
  16. Because of the house of the Lord our God, * I have sought good things for thee.

Amen.
