Mercy and judgment * I will sing to thee, O Lord:

  1. Psallam, et intélligam in via immacuta, * quando vénies ad me.
  2. I will sing, and I will understand in the unspotted way, * when thou shalt come to me.

  3. Perambulábam in innocéntia cordis mei: * in médio domus meæ.
  4. I walked in the innocence of my heart, * in the midst of my house.

  5. Non proponébam ante óculos meos rem injústam: * faciéntes prævaricatiónes ovi.
  6. I did not set before my eyes any unjust thing: * I hated the workers of iniquities.

  7. Non adhǽsit mihi cor pravum: * declinántem a me malígnum non cognoscébam.
  8. The perverse heart did not cleave to me: * and the malignant, that turned aside from me, I would not know.

  9. Detrahéntem secréto próximo suo, * hunc persequébar.
  10. The man that in private detracted his neighbour, * him did I persecute.

  12. With him that had a proud eye, and an unsatiable heart, * I would not eat.

  13. Oculi mei ad fidéles terræ ut deant mecum: * ámbulans in via immaculáta, hic mihi ministrábat.
  14. My eyes were upon the faithful of the earth, to sit with me: * the man that walked in the perfect way, he served me.

Canticum: Canticum Iudith [4]

Let us sing a hymn to the Lord, * let us sing a new hymn to our God.

  1. Adonái, Dómine, magnus es tu, et præclárus in virte tua, * et quem superáre nemo potest.
  2. O Adonai, Lord, great art thou, and glorious in thy power, * and no one can overcome thee.

  4. Let all thy creatures serve thee: * because thou hast spoken, and they were made:

  6. Thou didst send forth thy spirit, and they were created, * and there is no one that can resist thy voice.

  7. Montes a fundaméntis movebúntur cum aquis: * petræ, sicut cera, liquéscent ante fáciem tuam.
  8. The mountains shall be moved from the foundations with the waters: * the rocks shall melt as wax before thy face.

  10. But they that fear thee, * shall be great with thee in all things.

  11. Væ genti insurgénti super genus meum: Dóminus enim omnípotens vindibit in eis, * in die judícii visitábit illos.
  12. Woe be to the nation that riseth up against my people: for the Lord almighty will take revenge on them, * in the day of judgment he will visit them.

  14. For he will give fire, and worms into their flesh, * that they may burn, and may feel for ever.

  15. Glória Patri, et lio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
  16. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

  17. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
  18. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Psalmus 145

  2. Put not your trust in princes: * in the children of men, in whom there is no salvation.

  3. Exíbit spíritus ejus, et revertétur in terram suam: * in illa die períbunt omnes cogitatiónes eórum.
  4. His spirit shall go forth, and he shall return into his earth: * in that day all their thoughts shall perish.

  6. Blessed is he who hath the God of Jacob for his helper, whose hope is in the Lord his God: * who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all things that are in them.

  7. Qui custódit veritátem in sǽculum, facit judícium injúriam patiéntibus: * dat escam esuriéntibus.
  8. Who keepeth truth for ever: who executeth judgment for them that suffer wrong: * who giveth food to the hungry.

  9. Dóminus solvit competos: * Dóminus illúminat cos.
  10. The Lord looseth them that are fettered: * the Lord enlighteneth the blind.

  11. Dóminus érigit esos: * Dóminus díligit justos.
  12. The Lord lifteth up them that are cast down: * the Lord loveth the just.

  13. Dóminus custódit ádvenas, pupíllum et víduam suscípiet: * et vias peccatórum dispérdet.
  14. The Lord keepeth the strangers, he will support the fatherless and the widow: * and the ways of sinners he will destroy.

  15. Regnábit Dóminus in sǽcula, Deus tuus, Sion, * in generatiónem et generatiónem.
  16. The Lord shall reign for ever: thy God, O Sion, * unto generation and generation.

  17. Glória Patri, et lio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
  18. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

  19. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
  20. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Capitulum Responsorium Versus

Rom 6:9-10

Knowing that Christ rising again from the dead, dieth now no more, death shall no more have dominion over him. For in that he died to sin, he died once; but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Hymnus

1. The morn had spread her crimson rays, When rang the skies with shouts of praise; Earth joined the joyful hymn to swell, That brought despair to vanquished hell. 2. He comes victorious from the grave, The Lord omnipotent to save, And brings with him to light of day The saints who long imprisoned lay. 3. Vain is the cavern’s three-fold ward — The stone, the seal, the armed guard; O death, no more thine arm we fear, The Victor’s tomb is now thy bier. 4. Let hymns of joy to grief succeed, We know that Christ is risen indeed; We hear his white-robed angel’s voice, And in our risen Lord rejoice. 5. With Christ we died, with Christ we rose, When at the font his name we chose; Oh, let not sin our robes defile, And turn to grief the paschal smile. 6. To God the Father let us sing, To God the Son, our risen King, And equally let us adore The Spirit, God forevermore. Amen.

Oratio

O God, of Whom it cometh that the minds of thy faithful people be all of one will, grant unto the same thy people that they may love the thing which Thou commandest, and desire that which Thou dost promise, that so, amid the sundry and manifold changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed, where true joys are to be found.
Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
