Psalmus 149

Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle: * let his praise be in the church of the saints.

2. Lætétur Israël in eo, qui fecit eum: * et fílii Sion exsúltent in rege suo.

Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: * and let the children of Sion be joyful in their king.

3. Laudent nomen ejus in choro: * in týmpano, et psaltério psallant ei.

Let them praise his name in choir: * let them sing to him with the timbrel and the psaltery.

4. Quia beneplácitum est Dómino in pópulo suo: * et exaltábit mansuétos in salútem.

For the Lord is well pleased with his people: * and he will exalt the meek unto salvation.

5. Exsultábunt sancti in glória: * lætabúntur in cubílibus suis.

The saints shall rejoice in glory: * they shall be joyful in their beds.

6. Exaltatiónes Dei in gútture eórum: * et gládii ancípites in mánibus eórum.

The high praises of God shall be in their mouth: * and two-edged swords in their hands:

7. Ad faciéndam vindíctam in natiónibus: * increpatiónes in pópulis.

To execute vengeance upon the nations, * chastisements among the people:

8. Ad alligándos reges eórum in compédibus: * et nóbiles eórum in mánicis férreis.

To bind their kings with fetters, * and their nobles with manacles of iron.

9. Ut fáciant in eis judícium conscríptum: * glória hæc est ómnibus sanctis ejus.

To execute upon them the judgment that is written: * this glory is to all his saints.

10. Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

11. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

Psalmus 91

It is good to give praise to the Lord: * and to sing to thy name, O most High.

2. Ad annuntiándum mane misericórdiam tuam: * et veritátem tuam per noctem.

To shew forth thy mercy in the morning, * and thy truth in the night:

3. In decachórdo, psaltério: * cum cántico, in cíthara.

Upon an instrument of ten strings, upon the psaltery: * with a canticle upon the harp.

4. Quia delectásti me, Dómine, in factúra tua: * et in opéribus mánuum tuárum exsultábo.

For thou hast given me, O Lord, a delight in thy doings: * and in the works of thy hands I shall rejoice.

5. Quam magnificáta sunt ópera tua, Dómine! * nimis profúndæ factæ sunt cogitatiónes tuæ.

O Lord, how great are thy works! * thy thoughts are exceeding deep.

6. Vir insípiens non cognóscet: * et stultus non intélliget hæc.

The senseless man shall not know: * nor will the fool understand these things.

7. Cum exórti fúerint peccatóres sicut fenum: * et apparúerint omnes, qui operántur iniquitátem.

When the wicked shall spring up as grass: * and all the workers of iniquity shall appear:

8. Ut intéreant in sǽculum sǽculi: * tu autem Altíssimus in ætérnum, Dómine.

That they may perish for ever and ever: * but thou, O Lord, art most high for evermore.

9. Quóniam ecce inimíci tui, Dómine, † quóniam ecce inimíci tui períbunt: * et dispergéntur omnes, qui operántur iniquitátem.

For behold thy enemies, O Lord, for behold thy enemies shall perish: * and all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

10. Et exaltábitur sicut unicórnis cornu meum: * et senéctus mea in misericórdia úberi.

But my horn shall be exalted like that of the unicorn: * and my old age in plentiful mercy.

11. Et despéxit óculus meus inimícos meos: * et in insurgéntibus in me malignántibus áudiet auris mea.

My eye also hath looked down upon my enemies: * and my ear shall hear of the downfall of the malignant that rise up against me.

12. Justus, ut palma florébit: * sicut cedrus Líbani multiplicábitur.

The just shall flourish like the palm tree: * he shall grow up like the cedar of Libanus.

13. Plantáti in domo Dómini, * in átriis domus Dei nostri florébunt.

They that are planted in the house of the Lord * shall flourish in the courts of the house of our God.

14. Adhuc multiplicabúntur in senécta úberi: * et bene patiéntes erunt, ut annúntient:

They shall still increase in a fruitful old age: * and shall be well treated, that they may shew,

15. Quóniam rectus Dóminus, Deus noster: * et non est iníquitas in eo.

That the Lord our God is righteous, * and there is no iniquity in him.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

Psalmus 63

Hear, O God, my prayer, when I make supplication to thee: * deliver my soul from the fear of the enemy.

2. Protexísti me a convéntu malignántium: * a multitúdine operántium iniquitátem.

Thou hast protected me from the assembly of the malignant; * from the multitude of the workers of iniquity.

3. Quia exacuérunt ut gládium linguas suas: * intendérunt arcum rem amáram, ut sagíttent in occúltis immaculátum.

For they have whetted their tongues like a sword; * they have bent their bow a bitter thing, to shoot in secret the undefiled.

4. Súbito sagittábunt eum, et non timébunt: * firmavérunt sibi sermónem nequam.

They will shoot at him on a sudden, and will not fear: * they are resolute in wickedness.

5. Narravérunt ut abscónderent láqueos: * dixérunt: Quis vidébit eos?

They have talked of hiding snares; * they have said: Who shall see them?

6. Scrutáti sunt iniquitátes: * defecérunt scrutántes scrutínio.

They have searched after iniquities: * they have failed in their search.

7. Accédet homo ad cor altum: * et exaltábitur Deus.

Man shall come to a deep heart: * and God shall be exalted.

8. Sagíttæ parvulórum factæ sunt plagæ eórum: * et infirmátæ sunt contra eos linguæ eórum.

The arrows of children are their wounds: * and their tongues against them are made weak.

9. Conturbáti sunt omnes qui vidébant eos: * et tímuit omnis homo.

All that saw them were troubled; * and every man was afraid.

10. Et annuntiavérunt ópera Dei, * et facta ejus intellexérunt.

And they declared the works of God: * and understood his doings.

11. Lætábitur justus in Dómino, et sperábit in eo: * et laudabúntur omnes recti corde.

The just shall rejoice in the Lord, and shall hope in him: * and all the upright in heart shall be praised.

Have mercy upon us, O God of all, and behold us, * and shew us the light of thy mercies:

2. Et immítte timórem tuum super gentes, * quæ non exquisiérunt te,

And send thy fear upon the nations, * that have not sought after thee:

3. Ut cognóscant quia non est Deus nisi tu, * et enárrent magnália tua.

That they may know that there is no God beside thee, * and that they may shew forth thy wonders.

4. Álleva manum tuam super gentes aliénas, * ut vídeant poténtiam tuam.

Lift up thy hand over the strange nations, * that they may see thy power.

5. Sicut enim in conspéctu eórum sanctificátus es in nobis, * sic in conspéctu nostro magnificáberis in eis,

For as thou hast been sanctified in us in their sight, * so thou shalt be magnified among them in our presence,

6. Ut cognóscant te, sicut et nos cognóvimus, * quóniam non est Deus præter te, Dómine.

That they may know thee, as we also have known thee, * that there is no God beside thee, O Lord.

7. Ínnova signa, et immúta mirabília. * Glorífica manum, et bráchium dextrum.

Renew thy signs, and work new miracles. * Glorify thy hand, and thy right arm.

8. Éxcita furórem, et effúnde iram. * Tolle adversárium, et afflíge inimícum.

Raise up indignation, and pour out wrath. * Take away the adversary, and crush the enemy.

9. Festína tempus, et meménto finis, * ut enárrent mirabília tua.

Hasten the time, and remember the end, * that they may declare thy wonderful works.

10. In ira flammæ devorétur qui salvátur: * et qui péssimant plebem tuam, invéniant perditiónem.

Let him that escapeth be consumed by the rage of the fire: * and let them perish that oppress thy people.

11. Cóntere caput príncipum inimicórum, * dicéntium: Non est álius præter nos.

Crush the head of the princes of the enemies * that say: There is no other beside us.

12. Cóngrega omnes tribus Jacob: ut cognóscant quia non est Deus nisi tu, * et enárrent magnália tua:

Gather together all the tribes of Jacob: that they may know that there is no God besides thee, * and may declare thy great works.

13. Et hereditábis eos, * sicut ab inítio.

And thou shalt inherit them * as from the beginning.

14. Miserére plebi tuæ, super quam invocátum est nomen tuum: * et Israël, quem coæquásti primogénito tuo.

Have mercy on thy people, upon whom thy name is invoked: * and upon Israel, whom thou hast raised up to be thy firstborn.

15. Miserére civitáti sanctificatiónis tuæ Jerúsalem, * civitáti requiéi tuæ.

Have mercy on Jerusalem, the city which thou hast sanctified, * the city of thy rest.

16. Reple Sion inenarrabílibus verbis tuis, * et glória tua pópulum tuum.

Fill Sion with thy unspeakable words, * and thy people with thy glory.

Praise ye the Lord in his holy places: * praise ye him in the firmament of his power.

2. Laudáte eum in virtútibus ejus: * laudáte eum secúndum multitúdinem magnitúdinis ejus.

Praise ye him for his mighty acts: * praise ye him according to the multitude of his greatness.

3. Laudáte eum in sono tubæ: * laudáte eum in psaltério, et cíthara.

Praise him with sound of trumpet: * praise him with psaltery and harp.

4. Laudáte eum in týmpano, et choro: * laudáte eum in chordis, et órgano.

Praise him with timbrel and choir: * praise him with strings and organs.

5. Laudáte eum in cýmbalis benesonántibus: † laudáte eum in cýmbalis jubilatiónis: * omnis spíritus laudet Dóminum.

Praise him on high sounding cymbals: praise him on cymbals of joy: * let every spirit praise the Lord.

Blessed be the Lord + God of Israel; * because he hath visited and wrought the redemption of his people:

And hath raised up an horn of salvation to us, * in the house of David his servant:

3. Sicut locútus est per os sanctórum, * qui a sǽculo sunt, prophetárum ejus:

As he spoke by the mouth of his holy Prophets, * who are from the beginning:

4. Salútem ex inimícis nostris, * et de manu ómnium, qui odérunt nos.

Salvation from our enemies, * and from the hand of all that hate us:

5. Ad faciéndam misericórdiam cum pátribus nostris: * et memorári testaménti sui sancti.

To perform mercy to our fathers, * and to remember his holy testament,

6. Jusjurándum, quod jurávit ad Abraham patrem nostrum, * datúrum se nobis:

The oath, which he swore to Abraham our father, * that he would grant to us,

7. Ut sine timóre, de manu inimicórum nostrórum liberáti, * serviámus illi.

That being delivered from the hand of our enemies, * we may serve him without fear,

8. In sanctitáte, et justítia coram ipso, * ómnibus diébus nostris.

In holiness and justice before him, * all our days.

9. Et tu, puer, Prophéta Altíssimi vocáberis: * præíbis enim ante fáciem Dómini, paráre vias ejus:

And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: * for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways:

10. Ad dandam sciéntiam salútis plebi ejus: * in remissiónem peccatórum eórum:

To give knowledge of salvation to his people, * unto the remission of their sins:

11. Per víscera misericórdiæ Dei nostri: * in quibus visitávit nos, óriens ex alto:

Through the bowels of the mercy of our God, * in which the Orient from on high hath visited us:

12. Illumináre his, qui in ténebris, et in umbra mortis sedent: * ad dirigéndos pedes nostros in viam pacis.

To enlighten them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death: * to direct our feet into the way of peace.
