The Lord, the King of Confessors, * O come, let us worship.

Psalmus 104 (1,15)

The memory of thy testament * will live forever, O Lord our God.

Give glory to the Lord, and call upon his name: * declare his deeds among the Gentiles.

2. Cantáte ei, et psállite ei: * narráte ómnia mirabília ejus.

Sing to him, yea sing praises to him: * relate all his wondrous works.

3. Laudámini in nómine sancto ejus: * lætétur cor quæréntium Dóminum.

Glory ye in his holy name: * let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

4. Quǽrite Dóminum, et confirmámini: * quǽrite fáciem ejus semper.

Seek ye the Lord, and be strengthened: * seek his face evermore.

5. Mementóte mirabílium ejus, quæ fecit: * prodígia ejus, et judícia oris ejus.

Remember his marvellous works which he hath done; * his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth.

6. Semen Abraham, servi ejus: * fílii Jacob, elécti ejus.

O ye seed of Abraham his servant; * ye sons of Jacob his chosen.

7. Ipse Dóminus Deus noster: * in univérsa terra judícia ejus.

He is the Lord our God: * his judgments are in all the earth.

8. Memor fuit in sǽculum testaménti sui: * verbi, quod mandávit in mille generatiónes:

He hath remembered his covenant for ever: * the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

9. Quod dispósuit ad Abraham: * et juraménti sui ad Isaac:

Which he made to Abraham; * and his oath to Isaac:

10. Et státuit illud Jacob in præcéptum: * et Israël in testaméntum ætérnum:

And he appointed the same to Jacob for a law, * and to Israel for an everlasting testament:

11. Dicens: Tibi dabo terram Chánaan, * funículum hereditátis vestræ.

Saying: To thee will I give the land of Chanaan, * the lot of your inheritance.

12. Cum essent número brevi, * paucíssimi et íncolæ ejus:

When they were but a small number: * yea very few, and sojourners therein:

13. Et pertransiérunt de gente in gentem, * et de regno ad pópulum álterum.

And they passed from nation to nation, * and from one kingdom to another people.

14. Non relíquit hóminem nocére eis: * et corrípuit pro eis reges.

He suffered no man to hurt them: * and he reproved kings for their sakes.

15. Nolíte tángere christos meos: * et in prophétis meis nolíte malignári.

Touch ye not my anointed: * and do no evil to my prophets.

The Lord increased his people exceedingly * and strengthened them over their enemies.

And he called a famine upon the land: * and he broke in pieces all the support of bread.

2. Misit ante eos virum: * in servum venúmdatus est Joseph.

He sent a man before them: * Joseph, who was sold for a slave.

3. Humiliavérunt in compédibus pedes ejus, ferrum pertránsiit ánimam ejus * donec veníret verbum ejus.

They humbled his feet in fetters: the iron pierced his soul, * until his word came.

4. Elóquium Dómini inflammávit eum: * misit rex, et solvit eum; princeps populórum, et dimísit eum.

The word of the Lord inflamed him: * the king sent, and he released him: the ruler of the people, and he set him at liberty.

5. Constítuit eum dóminum domus suæ: * et príncipem omnis possessiónis suæ:

He made him master of his house, * and ruler of all his possession.

6. Ut erudíret príncipes ejus sicut semetípsum: * et senes ejus prudéntiam docéret.

That he might instruct his princes as himself, * and teach his ancients wisdom.

7. Et intrávit Israël in Ægýptum: * et Jacob áccola fuit in terra Cham.

And Israel went into Egypt: * and Jacob was a sojourner in the land of Cham.

8. Et auxit pópulum suum veheménter: * et firmávit eum super inimícos ejus.

And he increased his people exceedingly: * and strengthened them over their enemies,

9. Convértit cor eórum ut odírent pópulum ejus: * et dolum fácerent in servos ejus.

He turned their heart to hate his people: * and to deal deceitfully with his servants.

10. Misit Móysen, servum suum: * Aaron, quem elégit ipsum.

He sent Moses his servant: * Aaron the man whom he had chosen.

11. Pósuit in eis verba signórum suórum: * et prodigiórum in terra Cham.

He gave them power to shew his signs, * and his wonders in the land of Cham.

The Lord brought forth * his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness.

He sent darkness, and made it obscure: * and grieved not his words.

2. Convértit aquas eórum in sánguinem: * et occídit pisces eórum.

He turned their waters into blood, * and destroyed their fish.

3. Edidit terra eórum ranas: * in penetrálibus regum ipsórum.

Their land brought forth frogs, * in the inner chambers of their kings.

4. Dixit, et venit cœnomyía: * et cínifes in ómnibus fínibus eórum.

He spoke, and there came diverse sorts of flies, * and sciniphs in all their coasts.

5. Pósuit plúvias eórum grándinem: * ignem comburéntem in terra ipsórum.

He gave them hail for rain, * a burning fire in the land.

6. Et percússit víneas eórum, et ficúlneas eórum: * et contrívit lignum fínium eórum.

And he destroyed their vineyards, and their fig trees: * and he broke in pieces the trees of their coasts.

7. Dixit, et venit locústa, et bruchus, * cujus non erat númerus:

He spoke, and the locust came, and the bruchus, * of which there was no number.

8. Et comédit omne fœnum in terra eórum: * et comédit omnem fructum terræ eórum.

And they devoured all the grass in their land, * and consumed all the fruit of their ground.

9. Et percússit omne primogénitum in terra eórum: * primítias omnis labóris eórum.

And he slew all the firstborn in their land: * the firstfruits of all their labour.

10. Et edúxit eos cum argénto et auro: * et non erat in tríbubus eórum infírmus.

And he brought them out with silver and gold: * and there was not among their tribes one that was feeble.

11. Lætáta est Ægýptus in profectióne eórum: * quia incúbuit timor eórum super eos.

Egypt was glad when they departed: * for the fear of them lay upon them.

12. Expándit nubem in protectiónem eórum: * et ignem ut lucéret eis per noctem.

He spread a cloud for their protection, * and fire to give them light in the night.

13. Petiérunt, et venit cotúrnix: * et pane cæli saturávit eos.

They asked, and the quail came: * and he filled them with the bread of heaven.

14. Dirúpit petram et fluxérunt aquæ: * abiérunt in sicco flúmina;

He opened the rock, and waters flowed: * rivers ran down in the dry land.

15. Quóniam memor fuit verbi sancti sui: * quod hábuit ad Abraham, púerum suum.

Because he remembered his holy word, * which he had spoken to his servant Abraham.

16. Et edúxit pópulum suum in exsultatióne, * et eléctos suos in lætítia.

And he brought forth his people with joy, * and his chosen with gladness.

17. Et dedit illis regiónes Géntium: * et labóres populórum possedérunt:

And he gave them the lands of the Gentiles: * and they possessed the labours of the people:

18. Ut custódiant justificatiónes ejus, * et legem ejus requírant.

That they might observe his justifications, * and seek after his law.

The Lord saved them * for his own name's sake.

Give glory to the Lord, for he is good: * for his mercy endureth for ever.

2. Quis loquétur poténtias Dómini, * audítas fáciet omnes laudes ejus?

Who shall declare the powers of the Lord? * who shall set forth all his praises?

3. Beáti, qui custódiunt judícium, * et fáciunt justítiam in omni témpore.

Blessed are they that keep judgment, * and do justice at all times.

4. Meménto nostri, Dómine, in beneplácito pópuli tui: * vísita nos in salutári tuo:

Remember us, O Lord, in the favour of thy people: * visit us with thy salvation.

5. Ad vidéndum in bonitáte electórum tuórum, ad lætándum in lætítia gentis tuæ: * ut laudéris cum hereditáte tua.

That we may see the good of thy chosen, that we may rejoice in the joy of thy nation: * that thou mayst be praised with thy inheritance.

6. Peccávimus cum pátribus nostris: * injúste égimus, iniquitátem fécimus.

We have sinned with our fathers: * we have acted unjustly, we have wrought iniquity.

7. Patres nostri in Ægýpto non intellexérunt mirabília tua: * non fuérunt mémores multitúdinis misericórdiæ tuæ.

Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt: * they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies:

8. Et irritavérunt ascendéntes in mare, * Mare Rubrum.

And they provoked to wrath going up to the sea, * even the Red Sea.

9. Et salvávit eos propter nomen suum: * ut notam fáceret poténtiam suam.

And he saved them for his own name’s sake: * that he might make his power known.

10. Et incrépuit Mare Rubrum, et exsiccátum est, * et dedúxit eos in abýssis sicut in desérto.

And he rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up: * and he led them through the depths, as in a wilderness.

11. Et salvávit eos de manu odiéntium: * et redémit eos de manu inimíci.

And he saved them from the hand of them that hated them: * and he redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

12. Et opéruit aqua tribulántes eos: * unus ex eis non remánsit.

And the water covered them that afflicted them: * there was not one of them left.

13. Et credidérunt verbis ejus: * et laudavérunt laudem ejus.

And they believed his words: * and they sang his praises.

14. Cito fecérunt, oblíti sunt óperum ejus: * et non sustinuérunt consílium ejus.

They had quickly done, they forgot his works: * and they waited not for his counsels.

15. Et concupiérunt concupiscéntiam in desérto: * et tentavérunt Deum in inaquóso.

And they coveted their desire in the desert: * and they tempted God in the place without water.

16. Et dedit eis petitiónem ipsórum: * et misit saturitátem in ánimas eórum.

And he gave them their request: * and sent fulness into their souls.

Psalmus 105 (16,31)

They forgot God * who saved them.

And they provoked Moses in the camp, * Aaron the holy one of the Lord.

2. Apérta est terra, et deglutívit Dathan: * et opéruit super congregatiónem Abiron.

The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan: * and covered the congregation of Abiron.

3. Et exársit ignis in synagóga eórum: * flamma combússit peccatóres.

And a fire was kindled in their congregation: * the flame burned the wicked.

4. Et fecérunt vítulum in Horeb: * et adoravérunt scúlptile.

They made also a calf in Horeb: * and they adored the graven thing.

5. Et mutavérunt glóriam suam * in similitúdinem vítuli comedéntis fœnum.

And they changed their glory * into the likeness of a calf that eateth grass.

6. Oblíti sunt Deum, qui salvávit eos, * qui fecit magnália in Ægýpto, mirabília in terra Cham: terribília in Mari Rubro.

They forgot God, who saved them, * who had done great things in Egypt, wondrous works in the land of Cham: terrible things in the Red Sea.

7. Et dixit ut dispérderet eos: * si non Móyses, eléctus ejus, stetísset in confractióne in conspéctu ejus:

And he said that he would destroy them: * had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach:

8. Ut avérteret iram ejus ne dispérderet eos: * et pro níhilo habuérunt terram desiderábilem:

To turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them; * and they set at nought the desirable land.

9. Non credidérunt verbo ejus, et murmuravérunt in tabernáculis suis: * non exaudiérunt vocem Dómini.

They believed not his word, and they murmured in their tents: * they hearkened not to the voice of the Lord.

10. Et elevávit manum suam super eos: * ut prostérneret eos in desérto:

And he lifted up his hand over them: * to overthrow them in the desert;

11. Et ut dejíceret semen eórum in natiónibus: * et dispérgeret eos in regiónibus.

And to cast down their seed among the nations, * and to scatter them in the countries.

12. Et initiáti sunt Beélphegor: * et comedérunt sacrifícia mortuórum.

They also were initiated to Beelphegor: * and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

13. Et irritavérunt eum in adinventiónibus suis: * et multiplicáta est in eis ruína.

And they provoked him with their inventions: * and destruction was multiplied among them.

14. Et stetit Phínees, et placávit: * et cessávit quassátio.

Then Phinees stood up, and pacified him: * and the slaughter ceased.

15. Et reputátum est ei in justítiam: * in generatiónem et generatiónem usque in sempitérnum.

And it was reputed to him unto justice, * to generation and generation for evermore.

And he saw when they were in tribulation * and he heard their prayer.

They provoked him also at the waters of contradiction: * and Moses was afflicted for their sakes: because they exasperated his spirit.

2. Et distínxit in lábiis suis: * non disperdidérunt Gentes, quas dixit Dóminus illis.

And he distinguished with his lips; * they did not destroy the nations of which the Lord spoke unto them.

3. Et commísti sunt inter Gentes, et didicérunt ópera eórum: et serviérunt sculptílibus eórum: * et factum est illis in scándalum.

And they were mingled among the heathens, and learned their works: and served their idols, * and it became a stumblingblock to them.

4. Et immolavérunt fílios suos, * et fílias suas dæmóniis.

And they sacrificed their sons, * and their daughters to devils.

5. Et effudérunt sánguinem innocéntem: * sánguinem filiórum suórum et filiárum suárum, quas sacrificavérunt sculptílibus Chánaan.

And they shed innocent blood: * the blood of their sons and of their daughters which they sacrificed to the idols of Chanaan.

6. Et infécta est terra in sanguínibus, et contamináta est in opéribus eórum: * et fornicáti sunt in adinventiónibus suis.

And the land was polluted with blood, and was defiled with their works: * and they went aside after their own inventions.

7. Et irátus est furóre Dóminus in pópulum suum: * et abominátus est hereditátem suam.

And the Lord was exceedingly angry with his people: * and he abhorred his inheritance.

8. Et trádidit eos in manus Géntium: * et domináti sunt eórum qui odérunt eos.

And he delivered them into the hands of the nations: * and they that hated them had dominion over them.

9. Et tribulavérunt eos inimíci eórum, et humiliáti sunt sub mánibus eórum: * sæpe liberávit eos.

And their enemies afflicted them: and they were humbled under their hands: * many times did he deliver them.

10. Ipsi autem exacerbavérunt eum in consílio suo: * et humiliáti sunt in iniquitátibus suis.

But they provoked him with their counsel: * and they were brought low by their iniquities.

11. Et vidit, cum tribularéntur: * et audívit oratiónem eórum.

And he saw when they were in tribulation: * and he heard their prayer.

12. Et memor fuit testaménti sui: * et pœnítuit eum secúndum multitúdinem misericórdiæ suæ.

And he was mindful of his covenant: * and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

13. Et dedit eos in misericórdias * in conspéctu ómnium qui céperant eos.

And he gave them unto mercies, * in the sight of all those that had made them captives.

14. Salvos nos fac, Dómine, Deus noster: * et cóngrega nos de natiónibus:

Save us, O Lord, our God: * and gather us from among nations:

15. Ut confiteámur nómini sancto tuo: * et gloriémur in laude tua.

That we may give thanks to thy holy name, * and may glory in thy praise.

16. Benedíctus Dóminus, Deus Israël, a sǽculo et usque in sǽculum: * et dicet omnis pópulus: Fiat, fiat.

Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting: * and let all the people say: So be it, so be it.

Then they cried to the Lord * and he delivered them out of their distresses.

Give glory to the Lord, for he is good: * for his mercy endureth for ever.

2. Dicant qui redémpti sunt a Dómino, quos redémit de manu inimíci: * et de regiónibus congregávit eos:

Let them say so that have been redeemed by the Lord, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy: * and gathered out of the countries.

3. A solis ortu, et occásu: * ab aquilóne, et mari.

From the rising and the setting of the sun, * from the north and from the sea.

4. Erravérunt in solitúdine in inaquóso: * viam civitátis habitáculi non invenérunt.

They wandered in a wilderness, in a place without water: * they found not the way of a city for their habitation.

5. Esuriéntes, et sitiéntes: * ánima eórum in ipsis defécit.

They were hungry and thirsty: * their soul fainted in them.

6. Et clamavérunt ad Dóminum cum tribularéntur: * et de necessitátibus eórum erípuit eos.

And they cried to the Lord in their tribulation: * and he delivered them out of their distresses.

7. Et dedúxit eos in viam rectam: * ut irent in civitátem habitatiónis.

And he led them into the right way: * that they might go to a city of habitation.

8. Confiteántur Dómino misericórdiæ ejus: * et mirabília ejus fíliis hóminum.

Let the mercies of the Lord give glory to him: * and his wonderful works to the children of men.

9. Quia satiávit ánimam inánem: * et ánimam esuriéntem satiávit bonis.

For he hath satisfied the empty soul, * and hath filled the hungry soul with good things.

10. Sedéntes in ténebris, et umbra mortis: * vinctos in mendicitáte et ferro.

Such as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death: * bound in want and in iron.

11. Quia exacerbavérunt elóquia Dei: * et consílium Altíssimi irritavérunt.

Because they had exasperated the words of God: * and provoked the counsel of the most High:

12. Et humiliátum est in labóribus cor eórum: * infirmáti sunt, nec fuit qui adjuváret.

And their heart was humbled with labours: * they were weakened, and there was none to help them.

13. Et clamavérunt ad Dóminum cum tribularéntur: * et de necessitátibus eórum liberávit eos.

Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction: * and he delivered them out of their distresses.

14. Et edúxit eos de ténebris, et umbra mortis: * et víncula eórum disrúpit.

And he brought them out of darkness, * and the shadow of death; and broke their bonds in sunder.

15. Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

Psalmus 106 (15,30)

These have seen * the works of the Lord, and his wonders.

Let the mercies of the Lord give glory to him, * and his wonderful works to the children of men.

2. Quia contrívit portas ǽreas: * et vectes férreos confrégit.

Because he hath broken gates of brass, * and burst the iron bars.

3. Suscépit eos de via iniquitátis eórum: * propter injustítias enim suas humiliáti sunt.

He took them out of the way of their iniquity: * for they were brought low for their injustices.

4. Omnem escam abomináta est ánima eórum: * et appropinquavérunt usque ad portas mortis.

Their soul abhorred all manner of meat: * and they drew nigh even to the gates of death.

5. Et clamavérunt ad Dóminum cum tribularéntur: * et de necessitátibus eórum liberávit eos.

And they cried to the Lord in their affliction: * and he delivered them out of their distresses.

6. Misit verbum suum, et sanávit eos: * et erípuit eos de interitiónibus eórum.

He sent his word, and healed them: * and delivered them from their destructions.

7. Et sacríficent sacrifícium laudis: * et annúntient ópera ejus in exsultatióne.

Let the mercies of the Lord give glory to him: * and his wonderful works to the children of men

8. Qui descéndunt mare in návibus, * faciéntes operatiónem in aquis multis.

And let them sacrifice the sacrifice of praise: * and declare his works with joy.

9. Ipsi vidérunt ópera Dómini, * et mirabília ejus in profúndo.

They that go down to the sea in ships, * doing business in the great waters:

10. Dixit, et stetit spíritus procéllæ: * et exaltáti sunt fluctus ejus.

These have seen the works of the Lord, * and his wonders in the deep.

11. Ascéndunt usque ad cælos, et descéndunt usque ad abýssos: * ánima eórum in malis tabescébat.

He said the word, and there arose a storm of wind: * and the waves thereof were lifted up.

12. Turbáti sunt, et moti sunt sicut ébrius: * et omnis sapiéntia eórum devoráta est.

They mount up to the heavens, and they go down to the depths: * their soul pined away with evils.

13. Et clamavérunt ad Dóminum cum tribularéntur: * et de necessitátibus eórum edúxit eos.

They were troubled, and reeled like a drunken man; * and all their wisdom was swallowed up.

14. Et státuit procéllam ejus in auram: * et siluérunt fluctus ejus.

And they cried to the Lord in their affliction: * and he brought them out of their distresses.

15. Et lætáti sunt quia siluérunt: * et dedúxit eos in portum voluntátis eórum.

And he turned the storm into a breeze: * and its waves were still.

16. Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.

Psalmus 106 (31,43)

The just see and rejoice * and understand the mercy of the Lord.

Let the mercies of the Lord give glory to him, * and his wonderful works to the children of men.

2. Et exáltent eum in ecclésia plebis: * et in cáthedra seniórum laudent eum.

And let them exalt him in the church of the people: * and praise him in the chair of the ancients.

3. Pósuit flúmina in desértum: * et éxitus aquárum in sitim.

He hath turned rivers into a wilderness: * and the sources of water into dry ground:

4. Terram fructíferam in salsúginem: * a malítia inhabitántium in ea.

A fruitful land into barrenness, * for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

5. Pósuit desértum in stagna aquárum: * et terram sine aqua in éxitus aquárum.

He hath turned a wilderness into pools of water, * and a dry land into water springs.

6. Et collocávit illic esuriéntes: * et constituérunt civitátem habitatiónis.

And hath placed there the hungry; * and they made a city for their habitation.

7. Et seminavérunt agros, et plantavérunt víneas: * et fecérunt fructum nativitátis.

And they sowed fields, and planted vineyards: * and they yielded fruit of birth.

8. Et benedíxit eis, et multiplicáti sunt nimis: * et juménta eórum non minorávit.

And he blessed them, and they were multiplied exceedingly: * and their cattle he suffered not to decrease.

9. Et pauci facti sunt: * et vexáti sunt a tribulatióne malórum, et dolóre.

Then they were brought to be few: * and they were afflicted through the trouble of evils and sorrow.

10. Effúsa est contémptio super príncipes: * et erráre fecit eos in ínvio, et non in via.

Contempt was poured forth upon their princes: *and he caused them to wander where there was no passing, and out of the way.

11. Et adjúvit páuperem de inópia: * et pósuit sicut oves famílias.

And he helped the poor out of poverty: * and made him families like a flock of sheep.

12. Vidébunt recti, et lætabúntur: * et omnis iníquitas oppilábit os suum.

The just shall see, and shall rejoice, * and all iniquity shall stop their mouth.

13. Quis sápiens et custódiet hæc? * et intélliget misericórdias Dómini.

Who is wise, and will keep these things: * and will understand the mercies of the Lord?

14. Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

15. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
