Ad Matutinum

Incipit

Invitatorium

The Lord is risen indeed. * Alleluia.

Hymnus

1. O thou, the heavens' eternal King, Creator, unto thee we sing, With God the Father ever One, Co-equal, co-eternal Son. 2. Thy hand, when first the world began, Made in thine own pure image man, And linked to Adam, sprung from earth, A living soul of heavenly birth. 3. And when by craft the envious foe Had marred thy noblest work below, Clothed in our flesh, thou didst restore The image thou hadst made before. 4. Once wast thou born of Mary's womb; And now, new-born from out the tomb, O Christ, thou bidd'st us rise with thee From death to immortality. 5. Eternal Shepherd, thou dost lave Thy flock in pure baptismal wave, That mystic bath, that grave of sin, Where ransomed souls new life begin. 6. Redeemer, thou for us didst deign To hang upon the Cross of pain, And give for us the lavish price Of thine own blood in sacrifice. 7. Grant, Lord, in thee each faithful mind Unceasing paschal joy may find; And from the death of sin set free Souls newly born to life by thee. 8. To thee, once dead, who now dost live, All glory, Lord, thy people give, Whom, with the Father, we adore, And Holy Ghost forevermore. Amen.

  6. For I know my iniquity, * and my sin is always before me.

  8. To thee only have I sinned, and have done evil before thee: * that thou mayst be justified in thy words, and mayst overcome when thou art judged.

  9. Ecce enim in iniquitátibus concéptus sum: * et in peccátis concépit me mater mea.
  10. For behold I was conceived in iniquities; * and in sins did my mother conceive me.

  12. For behold thou hast loved truth: * the uncertain and hidden things of thy wisdom thou hast made manifest to me.

  13. Aspérges me hyssópo, et munbor: * lavábis me, et super nivem dealbor.
  14. Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be cleansed: * thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow.

  15. Audítui meo dabis gáudium ettiam: * et exsultábunt ossa humiliáta.
  16. To my hearing thou shalt give joy and gladness: * and the bones that have been humbled shall rejoice.

  17. Avérte fáciem tuam a pectis meis: * et omnes iniquitátes meas dele.
  18. Turn away thy face from my sins, * and blot out all my iniquities.

  19. Cor mundum crea in me, Deus: * et spíritum rectum ínnova in viscéribus meis.
  20. Create a clean heart in me, O God: * and renew a right spirit within my bowels.

  22. Cast me not away from thy face; * and take not thy holy spirit from me.

  23. Redde mihi lætítiam saluris tui: * et spíritu principáli confírma me.
  24. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, * and strengthen me with a perfect spirit.

  26. I will teach the unjust thy ways: * and the wicked shall be converted to thee.

  27. Líbera me de sanguínibus, Deus, Deus satis meæ: * et exsultábit lingua mea justítiam tuam.
  28. Deliver me from blood, O God, thou God of my salvation: * and my tongue shall extol thy justice.

  29. Dómine, lábia mea aries: * et os meum annuntiábit laudem tuam.
  30. O Lord, thou wilt open my lips: * and my mouth shall declare thy praise.

  32. For if thou hadst desired sacrifice, I would indeed have given it: * with burnt offerings thou wilt not be delighted.

  34. A sacrifice to God is an afflicted spirit: * a contrite and humbled heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

  35. Benígne fac, Dómine, in bona voluntáte tua Sion: * ut ædificéntur muri Jesalem.
  36. Deal favourably, O Lord, in thy good will with Sion; * that the walls of Jerusalem may be built up.

  37. Tunc acceptábis sacrifícium justítiæ, oblatiónes, et holocáusta: * tunc impónent super altáre tuum tulos.
  38. Then shalt thou accept the sacrifice of justice, oblations and whole burnt offerings: * then shall they lay calves upon thy altar.

  39. Glória Patri, et lio, * et Spirítui Sancto.
  40. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.

  41. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
  42. As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Lectio 1
De Actibus Apostolórum
Act. 3:1-6

Now Peter and John went up into the temple at the ninth hour of prayer. And a certain man who was lame from his mother's womb, was carried: whom they laid every day at the gate of the temple, which is called Beautiful, that he might ask alms of them that went into the temple. He, when he had seen Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked to receive an alms. But Peter with John fastening his eyes upon him, said: Look upon us. But he looked earnestly upon them, hoping that he should receive something of them. But Peter said: Silver and gold I have none; but what I have, I give thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, arise, and walk.

Lectio 2
Act. 3:7-11

And taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up, and forthwith his feet and soles received strength. And he leaping up, stood, and walked, and went in with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God. And they knew him, that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened to him. And as he held Peter and John, all the people ran to them to the porch which is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.

Lectio 3
Act. 3:12-16

But Peter seeing, made answer to the people: Ye men of Israel, why wonder you at this? or why look you upon us, as if by our strength or power we had made this man to walk? The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus, whom you indeed delivered up and denied before the face of Pilate, when he judged he should be released. But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you. But the author of life you killed, whom God hath raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. And in the faith of his name, this man, whom you have seen and known, hath his name strengthened; and the faith which is by him, hath given this perfect soundness in the sight of you all.
