1. O God of truth, O Lord of might, Who orderest time and change aright, Who send’st the early morning ray, And light’st the glow of perfect day: 2. Extinguish thou each sinful fire, And banish every ill desire; And while thou keep’st the body whole, Shed forth thy peace upon the soul. 3. Almighty Father, hear our cry, Through Jesus Christ, our Lord most High, Who, with the Holy Ghost and thee, Doth live and reign eternally. Amen.

Psalmus 73 (1,9)

Remember * thy congregation, which thou hast possessed from the beginning.

O God, why hast thou cast us off unto the end: * why is thy wrath enkindled against the sheep of thy pasture?

  2. Redemísti virgam hereditátis tuæ: * mons Sion, in quo habitásti in eo.

    4. Lift up thy hands against their pride unto the end; * see what things the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.

    5. And they that hate thee have made their boasts, * in the midst of thy solemnity.

    9. They said in their heart, the whole kindred of them together: * Let us abolish all the festival days of God from the land.

How long, O God, shall the enemy reproach: * is the adversary to provoke thy name for ever?

    2. Why dost thou turn away thy hand: and thy right hand * out of the midst of thy bosom for ever?

  2. Deus autem Rex noster ante sǽcula: * operátus est salútem in médio terræ.

Remember this, the enemy hath reproached the Lord: * and a foolish people hath provoked thy name.

  1. Ne tradas béstiis ánimas confiténtes tibi, * et ánimas páuperum tuórum ne obliviscáris in finem.

    2. Deliver not up to beasts the souls that confess to thee: * and forget not to the end the souls of thy poor.

  2. Réspice in testaméntum tuum: * quia repléti sunt, qui obscuráti sunt terræ dómibus iniquitátum.

    3. Have regard to thy covenant: * for they that are the obscure of the earth have been filled with dwellings of iniquity.

  3. Ne avertátur húmilis factus confúsus: * pauper et inops laudábunt nomen tuum.

    4. Let not the humble be turned away with confusion: * the poor and needy shall praise thy name.

  4. Exsúrge, Deus, júdica causam tuam: * memor esto improperiórum tuórum, eórum quæ ab insipiénte sunt tota die.

    5. Arise, O God, judge thy own cause: * remember thy reproaches with which the foolish man hath reproached thee all the day.

  5. Ne obliviscáris voces inimicórum tuórum: * supérbia eórum, qui te odérunt, ascéndit semper.

    6. Forget not the voices of thy enemies: * the pride of them that hate thee ascendeth continually.

Lift up thy eyes round about, and see: all these are gathered together, they are come to thee: thy sons shall come from afar.

O God, Who by the leading of a star didst, as on this day, manifest thine Only-begotten Son to the Gentiles, mercifully grant that we, which know thee now by faith, may after this life have the fruition of thy glorious Godhead:
Through the same Jesus Christ, thy Son, Our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
