The Lord hath inclined * his ear unto me.

I have loved, because the Lord will hear * the voice of my prayer.

  1. Quia inclinávit aurem suam mihi: * et in diébus meis invocábo.

    2. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me: * and in my days I will call upon him.

  2. Circumdedérunt me dolóres mortis: * et perícula inférni invenérunt me.

    3. The sorrows of death have compassed me: * and the perils of hell have found me.

  3. Tribulatiónem et dolórem invéni: * et nomen Dómini invocávi.

    4. I met with trouble and sorrow: * and I called upon the name of the Lord.

    5. O Lord, deliver my soul. * The Lord is merciful and just, and our God sheweth mercy.

I have believed, therefore have I spoken; * but I have been humbled exceedingly.

  1. Ego dixi in excéssu meo: * Omnis homo mendax.

    2. I said in my excess: * Every man is a liar.

  2. Quid retríbuam Dómino, * pro ómnibus, quæ retríbuit mihi?

    3. What shall I render to the Lord, * for all the things that he hath rendered to me?

  3. Cálicem salutáris accípiam: * et nomen Dómini invocábo.

    4. I will take the chalice of salvation; * and I will call upon the name of the Lord.

Benedíctus Deus, et Pater Dómini nostri Iesu Christi, † Pater misericordiárum, et Deus totíus consolatiónis, * qui consolátur nos in omni tribulatióne nostra.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort, who comforteth us in all our tribulation.
