The Lord hath inclined * his ear unto me.

I have loved, because the Lord will hear * the voice of my prayer.

  1. Quia inclinávit aurem suam mihi: * et in diébus meis invocábo.

    2. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me: * and in my days I will call upon him.

  2. Circumdedérunt me dolóres mortis: * et perícula inférni invenérunt me.

    3. The sorrows of death have compassed me: * and the perils of hell have found me.

  3. Tribulatiónem et dolórem invéni: * et nomen Dómini invocávi.

    4. I met with trouble and sorrow: * and I called upon the name of the Lord.

  4. O Dómine, líbera ánimam meam: † miséricors Dóminus, et justus, * et Deus noster miserétur.

    5. O Lord, deliver my soul. * The Lord is merciful and just, and our God sheweth mercy.

    6. The Lord is the keeper of little ones: * I was humbled, and he delivered me.

I will pay my vows * in the sight of all his people.

I have believed, therefore have I spoken; * but I have been humbled exceedingly.

  1. Ego dixi in excéssu meo: * Omnis homo mendax.

    2. I said in my excess: * Every man is a liar.

  2. Quid retríbuam Dómino, * pro ómnibus, quæ retríbuit mihi?

    3. What shall I render to the Lord, * for all the things that he hath rendered to me?

  3. Cálicem salutáris accípiam: * et nomen Dómini invocábo.

    4. I will take the chalice of salvation; * and I will call upon the name of the Lord.

  4. Vota mea Dómino reddam coram omni pópulo ejus: * pretiósa in conspéctu Dómini mors sanctórum ejus:

    5. I will pay my vows to the Lord before all his people: * precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

  5. O Dómine, quia ego servus tuus: * ego servus tuus, et fílius ancíllæ tuæ.

    6. O Lord, for I am thy servant: * I am thy servant, and the son of thy handmaid.

  6. Dirupísti víncula mea: † tibi sacrificábo hóstiam laudis, * et nomen Dómini invocábo.

    7. Thou hast broken my bonds: * I will sacrifice to thee the sacrifice of praise, and I will call upon the name of the Lord.

    2. O Lord, deliver my soul from wicked lips, * and a deceitful tongue.

  2. Quid detur tibi, aut quid apponátur tibi * ad linguam dolósam?

    3. What shall be given to thee, or what shall be added to thee, * to a deceitful tongue?

  3. Sagíttæ poténtis acútæ, * cum carbónibus desolatóriis.

    4. The sharp arrows of the mighty, * with coals that lay waste.

    5. Woe is me, that my sojourning is prolonged! I have dwelt with the inhabitants of Cedar: * my soul hath been long a sojourner.

Ier 11:20

Tu autem, Dómine Sábaoth, qui iúdicas iuste, † et probas renes et corda, vídeam ultiónem tuam ex eis: * tibi enim revelávi causam meam, Dómine, Deus meus.

But thou, O Lord of Sabaoth, who judgest justly, and triest the reins and hearts, let me see thy revenge on them: for to thee I have revealed my cause, O Lord my God.
