✠
One of the soldiers * with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out Blood and Water.
The Lord said to my Lord: * Sit thou at my right hand:
Until I make thy enemies * thy footstool.
The Lord will send forth the sceptre of thy power out of Sion: * rule thou in the midst of thy enemies.
With thee is the principality in the day of thy strength: in the brightness of the saints: * from the womb before the day star I begot thee.
The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent: * Thou art a priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedech.
The Lord at thy right hand * hath broken kings in the day of his wrath.
He shall judge among nations, he shall fill ruins: * he shall crush the heads in the land of many.
He shall drink of the torrent in the way: * therefore shall he lift up the head.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
One of the soldiers * with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out Blood and Water.
Jesus stood * and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink.
I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; * in the council of the just, and in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord: * sought out according to all his wills.
His work is praise and magnificence: * and his justice continueth for ever and ever.
He hath made a remembrance of his wonderful works, being a merciful and gracious Lord: * he hath given food to them that fear him.
He will be mindful for ever of his covenant: * he will shew forth to his people the power of his works.
That he may give them the inheritance of the Gentiles: * the works of his hands are truth and judgment.
All his commandments are faithful: confirmed for ever and ever, * made in truth and equity.
He hath sent redemption to his people: * he hath commanded his covenant for ever.
(bow head) Holy and terrible is his name: * the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
A good understanding to all that do it: * his praise continueth for ever and ever.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Jesus stood * and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink.
With an everlasting love * hath God loved us, and from the day that he was lifted up over the earth, he hath drawn us with loving-kindness unto his Heart.
I have believed, therefore have I spoken; * but I have been humbled exceedingly.
I said in my excess: * Every man is a liar.
What shall I render to the Lord, * for all the things that he hath rendered to me?
I will take the chalice of salvation; * and I will call upon the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows to the Lord before all his people: * precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
O Lord, for I am thy servant: * I am thy servant, and the son of thy handmaid.
Thou hast broken my bonds: * I will sacrifice to thee the sacrifice of praise, and I will call upon the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows to the Lord in the sight of all his people: * in the courts of the house of the Lord, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
With an everlasting love * hath God loved us, and from the day that he was lifted up over the earth, he hath drawn us with loving-kindness unto his Heart.
Come unto me, * all ye that travail and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you.
Blessed are all they that fear the Lord: * that walk in his ways.
For thou shalt eat the labours of thy hands: * blessed art thou, and it shall be well with thee.
Thy wife as a fruitful vine, * on the sides of thy house.
Thy children as olive plants, * round about thy table.
Behold, thus shall the man be blessed * that feareth the Lord.
May the Lord bless thee out of Sion: * and mayst thou see the good things of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
And mayst thou see thy children’s children, * peace upon Israel.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Come unto me, * all ye that travail and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you.
My son, * give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem: * praise thy God, O Sion.
Because he hath strengthened the bolts of thy gates * he hath blessed thy children within thee.
Who hath placed peace in thy borders: * and filleth thee with the fat of corn.
Who sendeth forth his speech to the earth: * his word runneth swiftly.
Who giveth snow like wool: * scattereth mists like ashes.
He sendeth his crystal like morsels: * who shall stand before the face of his cold?
He shall send out his word, and shall melt them: * his wind shall blow, and the waters shall run.
Who declareth his word to Jacob: * his justices and his judgments to Israel.
He hath not done in like manner to every nation: * and his judgments he hath not made manifest to them.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
My son, * give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
Fratres: Mihi ómnium sanctórum mínimo data est grátia hæc, † in géntibus evangelizáre investigábiles divítias Christi; et illumináre omnes, * quæ sit dispensátio sacraménti abscónditi a sǽculis in Deo.
Brethren: Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the Mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God.
1. Lo, how the savage crew Of our proud sins hath rent The heart of our all-gracious God, That heart so innocent. 2. The soldier's quivering lance Our guilt it was that drave, Our wicked deeds that to its point Such cruel sharpness gave. 3. O wounded heart, whence sprang The Church, the Saviour's bride; Thou door of our salvation's ark Set in its mystic side. 4. Thou holy fount, whence flows The sacred sevenfold flood, Where we our filthy robes may cleanse In the Lamb's saving blood: 5. By sorrowful relapse, thee will we rend no more; But like the flames, those types of love, Strive heavenward to soar. 6. Father and Son supreme And Spirit, hear our cry; Whose is the kingdom, praise and power, Through all eternity. Amen.
But when they came to Jesus * and saw that he was dead already, they broke not his legs, but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out Blood and Water.
1. My soul + * doth magnify the Lord. 2. And my spirit hath rejoiced * in God my Saviour.
Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; * for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; * and holy is his name.
And his mercy is from generation unto generations, * to them that fear him.
He hath shewed might in his arm: * he hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
He hath put down the mighty from their seat, * and hath exalted the humble.
He hath filled the hungry with good things; * and the rich he hath sent empty away.
He hath received Israel his servant, * being mindful of his mercy:
As he spoke to our fathers, * to Abraham and to his seed for ever.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, * and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
But when they came to Jesus * and saw that he was dead already, they broke not his legs, but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out Blood and Water.
O God, who hast suffered the Heart of thy Son to be wounded by our sins, and in that very Heart hast bestowed on us the abundant riches of thy love: grant that the devout homage of our hearts, which we render unto him, may of thy mercy be deemed a recompence acceptable in thy sight.
Through the same Jesus Christ, thy Son, Our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
